<p>The part works for now but I have no long-term experience with it yet.</p><p>Part in action: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ZeuzpYQkdoY">https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ZeuzpYQkdoY</a></p><p>Expected upcoming issues:</p><ul><li>PLA might warp in car interior</li><li>the two thin “clips” that get caught by the holding mechanism will likely break</li><li>the hinges where the metal bolts go through might break</li><li>Using different material might render the “flaps” that hold the cup too stiff or too soft</li><li>plans for v4<ul><li>split in multiple parts: separate “clips” and hinges from main part to print them in different orientation for more strength</li><li>print in ABS or PETG</li></ul></li></ul><p>Printing suggestions:</p><ul><li>PLA might not be the right material for car interior parts, <strong>but here is what I did </strong>…</li><li>printed in PLA</li><li>nozzle: 0.4mm</li><li>layer height: 0.12mm</li><li>walls: 3 lines (1.2mm)</li><li>top/bottom: 7 layers (0.84mm)</li><li>printing speed: 50mm/s</li><li>infill density: 12%</li><li>infill pattern: cubic</li><li>no support</li><li>print as constructed and rotate model by 45°</li></ul><p>Removal of original part &amp; Installation:</p><ul><li>look at the underside of the upper part</li><li>carefully pull out the long metal bolt from the back hinge (the hinge with two loops)</li><li>flip the upper part to the front for good access to the central hinge</li><li>use the metal bolt to push out the short bolt from the central hinge</li><li>to install the new part follow the above in reverse order</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Original Part No. <code>7D0 862 531 U71</code></p><p>Afaik it was used in Volkswagen T4 and Passat.</p>
