Cupcake Fume Hood
thingiverse
This set of PETG parts adds a fume hood to your Cupcake CNC. It is designed to work with the Cupcake "oven" covers available at Thingiverse. The hood features holes for filament feed, Z-rod access (suitable for both left and right-handed users), and a 3" port that can be connected to various air handling solutions. This enclosure sits on top of the Cupcake CNC's bolts for easy installation and removal. For assembly, simply cut the parts, snap them together, and seal with clear packing tape. An ideal filament feed setup would be MakerBot spindle or similar with a 1/4" HDPE tube. The two circular parts provided are washers for push connect hardware, used to install the filament tube in the center of the housing. To use this hood, you may need to extend one Z-rod through the top or use a Z-min endstop to zero the Z-axis accurately. The 3" port at the back is a drain port from Home Depot. Laser-cut sticky backed EVA foam (craft foam) can be used as gaskets for this project, following the provided outlines. Gaskets are needed for the port, Z-rod access holes, and they provide an effective seal. Note: There's a link to additional images on Flickr. Instructions for using a Z-min endstop are available at Thingiverse.
