Cupboard labels
thingiverse
I created these custom labels using a laser cutter to introduce vocabulary to two five-year-old children. The more words kids encounter before learning to read, the better equipped they are to tackle reading. The labels can also be used in an office setting to mark item locations. To install them, simply unscrew the handle, place the label between the door and handle, and screw it back into place. You may need to adjust the size and spacing to fit your drawers or desk: these files include large labels that fit M5 screws and small labels that fit M4 screws. The design works well in both portrait and landscape orientations. For office use, I added a smaller version of the label since the original portrait orientation was too tall for some drawers. The photos show fluorescent green, yellow, and orange with engraving on the back: these colors work particularly well with back-engraving. The photos also showcase fluorescent blue and red with engraving on both sides: front-engraving is more readable. If you prefer to engrave on the front, flip the text horizontally before cutting. Note: in this design, one pixel equals one millimeter.
