Max files and FBX files are interchangeable formats used to store 3D models, animations, and scenes. Both formats support a wide range of data types including vertices, edges, faces, materials, textures, cameras, lights, and animation curves. Max files are native to Autodesk Maya while FBX is an open-standard format developed by Kaydara and later acquired by Autodesk.
