A friend asked me to build a turning station for her epoxy cups. She had ordered motors from Amazon, which I found by searching for "cup turner motors". After watching videos, I didn't like how everyone was attaching the motor to the PVC pipe so I created an adapter. The adapter simply pushes over the nut of the brass coupling and is secured with a 10mm screw. The other side of the adapter is tapered just like a normal PVC coupler, allowing the pipe to be pushed into it without the need for glue. I also didn't like the unfinished look of the hole in the wood on the outside so I created a simple trim ring that covers it up. If you drill a 1-inch hole for the PVC pipe to come through these can be pressed in (or glued if too loose). This adds the benefit of allowing the PVC to rotate much smoother than if it was just resting on the wood itself. Finally, I created a simple holder for the top of the turner to insert the PVC pipe when needing your cups to sit vertical and cure. The threaded PVC ends fit perfectly and it is very stable. Tolerances are tight. This was done on purpose. I recommend printing a test first and depending on your printer, you might need to adjust the scale just slightly to compensate. I added a 3/4-inch PVC version of the motor adapter and the top holder part.
