I've never seen a cup holder in an old army truck, and it's really frustrating when you're trying to grab a burger for lunch and there's nowhere to put your drink. These trucks are a handful to drive anyway, so the last thing I need is a clumsy cup holder that's going to spill my drink all over me. That's why I decided to make one myself - something that bolts right to the steering column. It took some trial and error, but I finally figured out how to design it. The problem was that in hot weather, the plastic would start to relax and cause the cup to rotate on the steering column, spilling my drink all over me. Not exactly what I had in mind when I built this thing. So, I redesigned the strap so it goes over a hose clamp instead of just being attached to the steering column. Now, you put a hose clamp around the steering column and it locks the rotation of the cup holder into place - no more spills! I'll get some pictures up soon, but for now, let's just say that this thing works like a charm. It turns out that my design also fits perfectly on WWII WC series Dodge army trucks. In fact, I even got one to work on my WC53 Carryall. It's a great addition to the truck - makes it feel a little more civilized, you know?
