Since my BMW 118d lacked a cup holder, I took matters into my own hands and designed one myself. The third-party cup holders that fit into the louvers were unappealing and unstable, unable to hold even moderately heavy mugs. I opted to create a custom solution that would work seamlessly with all BMW 1 Series models featuring this center console design, as well as those with steering wheels on the left side. To accommodate my limited build volume, I split the model into two parts. The printed components in PLA, suitable for cold temperatures, are sufficient for now but may not withstand warmer summer conditions. For enhanced durability, I plan to reprint the model using PETG, a material more resistant to heat. During printing, I encountered minor under-extrusion on one spot of the bottom part, noticeable as a light-colored area in the image. Although this issue is somewhat unsightly, it won't be a problem since I'll need to reprint the entire unit when the weather warms up. Installation was effortless; I simply applied double-sided tape underneath the model and secured it firmly. So far, it has remained rock solid in place.
