This is a model created using Blender's open-source software (Version 2.72). My aim was to design a simple shape, and I've succeeded! The preview images are artists' impressions of what this object should look like, not real views. They were rendered with the Blender Cycles Renderer and composited within Blender itself. Please print out this model on your 3D printer, then post the results! **Instructions to Reproduce:** Here's how I built this design in Blender 2.72: 1. **Create a Circle:** First, add a circle as your foundation. Ensure it has exactly eight vertices so that you end up with an octagon shape. 2. **Extrude the Octagon:** Next, expand outward on the octagon by applying some depth to create thickness. 3. **Expand Vertically:** Take the entire structure and push it upwards, increasing its vertical size. 4. **Adjust Rotation for Symmetry:** Rotate all top faces on the Z-axis to give your object a clean profile view from any angle. 5. **Keep Iterating Upward:** For more definition and a pleasing shape, continuously extend upward and flip new sections on the Z-axis as needed until you reach your desired height. 6. **Solid Bottom for Sturdiness:** Complete the design by attaching a bottom to stabilize the object and prevent tipping. 7. **Upload Your Masterpiece:** Finally, upload it to Thingiverse for others to download and experiment with printing!
