Cuneiform tablet

myminifactory

This is a clay tablet bearing a note detailing ten sheep and ten goats taken from flocks within the city of Ur and prepared for delivery by Ur-kununna. The tablet is dated in the fifth year of Gimil-Sin, king of Ur. The note itself was written in cuneiform script. Cuneiform or Sumerian cuneiform, one of the earliest writing systems ever developed, was pioneered by the Sumerians. Its distinctive wedge-shaped marks on clay tablets were created using a blunt reed stylus. The term "cuneiform" literally translates to "wedge-shaped". The object is being digitally scanned by the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology in Cambridge, England.
