The Fountain of the Lion was commissioned by the Culver City Redevelopment Agency to serve as the public art centerpiece for the Town Plaza development project. A magnificent eight-foot tall bronze sculpture of a lion stands at its core, surrounded by forty radiant lights that shoot high-velocity streams of water into the air with precision and beauty. The Fountain of the Lion has become a central gathering point within Town Plaza, captivating visitors with its effortless charm and mesmerizing display of dancing water jets. While this art installation draws inspiration from other lions deeply rooted in Culver City's rich cinematic history (notably MGM's iconic Leo the Lion and the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz), it is neither a direct representation nor an exact interpretation of either of these legendary felines.
