This is a significant upgrade to the standard coffee bean container 'Cuisinart DGB-700HA Hopper Assembly' on the DGB-900BC Cuisinart coffee maker, which handles both storing and grinding beans, as well as pouring in water. It enables users to store a full pound of coffee beans within the coffee maker, rather than being limited to under half a pound. This expansion raises the height of the coffeemaker but still fits comfortably beneath standard cabinet heights in the USA. To install this upgrade, simply remove the existing lid from the original coffee bean container, then push the new bin into place and secure it with the lid. The rubber seal from the old bin remains intact and continues to keep the expansion bin firmly in position. If the bin doesn't fit perfectly at first (a common issue), users can easily grind down the front bottom or soak it in a bowl of very hot water to help it slide into place. I designed this upgrade by tracing the original container on paper, scanning it to create a JPEG image, and then importing it into Cura for conversion to an STL file. From there, I used Meshmixer to extrude and copy the design, but encountered some issues with gaps between the rings - a problem I've since learned from and improved upon in my next designs. This was just one of my first forays into 3D printing, and it was an incredibly fun experience. I also created an automatic water filler feature that I plan to release separately soon (although I'm having trouble recalling where I sourced the original components).
