Prehistoric art from the Cave of the Coins, in the El Castillo karst complex. The caves of Monte Castillo, located in Puente Viesgo, consist of four cavities, two of which are open to the public: El Castillo and Las Monedas. Parietal figurative manifestations concentrate in a small lateral room a few meters from the entrance area. The ensemble, highly homogeneous in its technical realization (black drawing traced with pencil) and style (pointing to a single phase of execution), is composed of at least 17 animal figures and various forms of signs or sets of lines difficult to interpret. Mainly horses, and to a lesser extent reindeer, goats, bison, a bear, and some other indeterminate animal, compose a varied bestiary corresponding to a cold climate phase. C14 AMS dating certifies the execution of the figures during a glacial phase that occurred approximately 12,000 years ago.
