Cuenco Tripode (Siglo VII a.C. - VI a.C.)

These tripod mortars, also known as cauldron-tripods or mortar-tripods, are pieces of Eastern origin that directly descend from older models made in stone, whose origins date back to the Syrian region in the middle of the II millennium BC, during the Middle Bronze Age. The ceramic mortar-tripods spread from northern Syria to the Syrian-Palestinian coast and to Anatolia. Only among the Phoenician centers of the East are they documented in Sidon. Archaeological information from the Western Mediterranean indicates that by the second half of the 8th century, they were already known and widely distributed on the peninsula, lasting until the 6th century BC.
