Cuckoo Clock Hands

Here are the replacement hands and the details on how they were printed and designed. Replacing a clock movement in a cuckoo clock for someone is what I did recently, actually. The new movement I chose wasn't quite deep enough to fit the hour hand properly onto its pinion without dragging it against the clock face. So, I decided to print an extension that would make it fit right. To ensure they matched perfectly, I also created a matching minute hand. For kicks, I even made a standard version of the hour hand with no extension for anyone who might want a regular set. You only need one of these hour hands, not both, by the way. CuckooHandHour1 is the normal hour hand, and CuckooHandHour2 has the extra piece to fit properly. The matching minute hand is called CuckooHandMinute. It turned out really well in the end - check out the pictures with the hands installed on a real clock! Here are my print settings: * Printer: Printrbot Simple (modified) * Rafts: None * Supports: No * Resolution: .1 * Infill: 50% I used white PLA for this project. After printing, I'd love to hear more about your experience with these hands. If you're interested in designing something similar, here's how I did it: I drew the hands in Sketchup if you need them - just let me know and I can send over the .skp file.
