With autumn on the way, our team was on the hunt for the perfect print to capture the season. For our palette, we chose our Naturals Collection, including our newest MakerBot PLA Filament colors: True Brown, Light Brown, and Peach. Since these colors are ideal for mimicking organic textures like carved wood, we designed a print that would show them off: the Cuckoo Clock. Inspired by antique wooden clocks, the model is chock-full of gorgeous, eye-catching details, and has moveable parts like the clock hands and window shutters. It may be helpful to gently remove material with a blade or use a rubber mallet and glue to put pieces together. We recommend covering your mallet head with painter’s tape to keep the rubber from transferring onto your print. Below is a list of component pieces for the Cuckoo Clock, their recommended settings, and the number of prints required for each. No pieces require supports or rafts. Print all pieces at .2mm layer height for quality, or .3mm for a faster print. 2- Pinecone: 0% infill, 2 shells 4- Open Chain: 5% infill, 2 shells 1- Pendulum Piece: 5% infill, 2 shells 1- Small Base: 7% infill, 2 shells 1- Large Base: 10% infill, 2 shells 1- Top Arch: 7% infill, 2 shells 1- Fox: 7% infill, 2 shells 1- Side Leaf Left: 7% infill, 4 shells 1- Side Leaf Right: 7% infill, 4 shells 1- Clock Base: 7% infill, 2 shells 1- Window: 7% infill, 2 shells 1- 3D Bird: 3% infill, 2 shells 1- Top Leaf Left: 7% infill, 2 shells 1- Top Leaf Right: 7% infill, 2 shells 1- Pin for Clock: 3% infill, 2 shells 1- Clock Hand 1: 3% infill, 2 shells 1- Clock Hand 2: 3% infill, 2 shells 1- Clock Numbers: 3% infill, 2 shells 2- Chain Long: 3% infill, 2 shells 1- Wood Bird: 7% infill, 2 shells The clock can be mounted using a series of holes in the Top Arch piece, which can accommodate heavy fishing line.
