CUCCUMA COFFEE NAPOLITAN
grabcad
The Cuccuma, or Neapolitan coffee maker, was popularly used in Italy during the 19th century. Derived from late Latin cúcuma, it refers to a metal container with a handle utilized for brewing coffee and chocolate. Although modern moka coffee makers have replaced the Cuccuma due to their ease of use, this iconic Italian jug remains available today in traditional and contemporary designs. Initially made of copper, post-1886 versions were crafted from aluminum, while steel has also been used for recent editions. Traditional Neapolitan coffee preparation involves boiling water, turning the Cuccuma upside down to pass it through a filter containing coffee, and preserving the aroma using a 'coppetiello', a small folded paper cone placed over the spout before serving.
