Cuboctahedron Puzzle, Cube Puzzle A polyhedron with 8 triangular faces and 6 square faces is known as a cuboctahedron. It can be constructed from a cube by slicing off its 8 corners using the edge midpoints for the slicing plane. The resulting shape makes a nice Rubik-style puzzle if we further slice it into five tetrahedra. Based on a 50mm^3 cube, I designed a cuboctahedron puzzle that can be printed all-in-one or in five pieces. Method 1: Print one central piece and four corner pieces, then snap them together. Adding stickers or painting the faces creates a real puzzle. Method 2: Print an all-in-one version with or without letters at a resolution less than 0.2mm. Use a 3D spatula to loosen the four corners. Be careful and always wear protective gloves when handling sharp objects. Have fun reading about cuboctahedra on Wikipedia.
