Cubicon Style Spool Holder

This is a spool holder I adapted from the Cubicon Style spool holder designed specifically for large (60 mm) spool reels, namely Cubicon branded filament. I simply reduced the diameter of the end of the peg to accommodate Esun filament spools. This spool holder is engineered to friction fit into the back of the Style printer, placing a significant amount of stress on the notched end of the cylinder. In general, it's best to print in the vertical position with the notch on top for a more accurate result, using small layer height and 50% or more infill for internal support with ABS (or stronger) filament. I've learned from experience that light infill and coarse layers will cause the end to split off rather easily. Print Settings Printer: Cubicon Style Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: .15 mm layer height Infill: 50% Full Honeycomb Notes: I used Simplify3D with 50% infill and a full honeycomb infill pattern to achieve good internal strength. Post-Printing Carefully remove support material from the end notch (there's only a couple of mm clearance here) with an x-acto or similar tool. Gently work the holder into the slot in the style machine - it will be a tight fit at first. How I Designed This Autodesk 123 MeshMixer
