Hi, These are parts to build a sturdy cubic tower gate perfect for FPV-racing or freestyle flying. The holes are designed for 20mm tubes, and for locking purposes, you'll need to drill a hole through the collar and tube. Use a locking pin as you prefer. Place the flat area on the print bed, and there's no need for supports. A good example of a locking pin is available at this link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Large-Metal-Safety-Pins-for-Sewing-Kilt-Scarf-Brooch-Dressmaking-Craft-/122016828008. The guys from Rotor Riot are having fun with this gate, and you can see it in action at 7 minutes and 15 seconds in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qwfoBDgEDM&feature=youtu.be&t=7m19s. If you have a better name for this gate structure, feel free to share it! Print Settings Printer: CTC 3D Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 20% Notes: Place the flat area against the print bed; no supports are needed. Post-Printing The tubes used are 20mm electric installation tubes, cut to 170cm. Place foam insulation around the tube. The insulation has a 15mm inner diameter and had been cut on one side, making it easy to push around the tube. Cut the foam tube about 50mm shorter than the plastic tube at both ends. Drill holes for locking pins, mark joints so you can identify which tube belongs in each joint next time. There's no specific rule for marking joints, but each tube must be placed at the same location or the pin won't fit. After that, it's better not to dismount the printed joint parts completely from the tubes as they don't have markings. Use a 3m long general tent rope, and you'll need a total of 12 pieces: 2 for each top corner and 1 for each mid corner. Anchor pegs are set diagonally 2.5 meters away from the corner. Set the anchor pegs diagonally 2.5 meters away from the corner. Wrap red or yellow plastic foil strips around the tubes for better visibility. Use a peg (red) or something similar to support the tubes when lifting the tower up. After that, tighten the ropes equally so the tower stands straight up. The ropes don't need to be extremely tight.
