Cubic Parrot Foraging Toy
thingiverse
UPDATE: Made significant changes to allow printing everything vertically without supports. However, one file, a Double Hole with a parrot emblem extruded, might require a low-density support; I haven't tested this yet. This is my very first 3D print ever! Feel free to experiment and remix it if you come up with better ideas. This simple bird toy was designed for my Amazon parrot. It's a six-sided cube held together by crisscrossing bolts and nuts. You can place foraging paper or snacks inside to encourage the bird to unscrew the bolts. The designs I created are duplicated, ensuring they always face each other. I used PLA for all parts except the bolts, which were printed with 75% infill. All five threaded rods and nuts were printed on a raft standing vertically at once, followed by printing all four object files simultaneously. Each wall is printed individually, except for the one that requires two prints. You'll need five bolts, four nuts, and six wing nuts to assemble the toy. Alternatively, you can print only the nuts. The vertical pieces should be able to print together in one job, followed by printing the rods and nuts in another simultaneous job.
