Cubic Moebius & Trefoil
thingiverse
I found this on Pinterest: http://www.strid.dk/images/desktop/strid-house-1280x1024.jpg, and a lightbulb lit up. So, after a little effort, here's the result. Apparently, quite a bit can be done with cubes. There's this from Blender StackExchange: https://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/118264/cubic-trefoil-knot (Animated no less. Blend file is available as well). More on cubic sculpture (Bing/Pinterest): https://www.bing.com/search?q=cubic+sculpture+site%3Apinterest.com There's also this, serving as a roadmap for creating similar cubic models: https://cdn.iopscience.com/images/1751-8121/46/12/125001/Full/jpa446665f1_online.jpg from this scientific article: https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1751-8113/46/12/125001 Included here are my blend files, Cubic Moebius and Trefoil, as well as the STLs. --- Designed using cubes and the array modifier. I bounced back and forth between loose parts in edit mode and the array modifier. Adjusted the x, y, or z axis and 1 or -1 depending on the direction (left, right, up, down). It could probably be done using extrude/faces as well. But it wouldn't be "cubic" then.
