This is a collection of boards for a 1U CubeSat concept which was prepared from my end of module assignment on the Space Science postgraduate course at The Open University. Three of the designs are loosely based on commercial off the shelf units although I have not drawn all the components as the aim was just to check the assembly and packaging.
‘NANoLink S-band’ is based on the NANOlink SDR S-band transceiver board https://www.skylabs.si/portfolio-item/nanolink-s-band-communication-subsystem/
‘NANOobc-1’ is based on the NANOobc fault tolerant on board computer https://www.skylabs.si/portfolio-item/nanoobc/
‘Battery separate’ is base on the BAOx double sided high energy density battery array https://www.cubesatshop.com/product/ba0x-high-energy-density-battery-array/
‘Payload sensors’ is a bespoke board with 5 small sensors chips and an inertial navigation unit MASIMU01 http://www.micro-a.net/imu-tmpl.html
‘Antenna assembly’ and ‘Conical antenna’ are an X-band conical helix antenna based on the designs in a paper by Ernest. The height and diameters are correct but the coil spacing is arbitrary.

‘3U solar panels’ is a simple model of a solar panel system for a different satellite concept.

Ernest, A. (2015) ‘A bottom fed deployable conical log spiral antenna design for cubesat’, IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, vol. 63, no. 1, pp. 41–47

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

i3 MK2.5

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Yes

Notes:

Al items were printed in PLA with no supports (except the battery board) with filament colour changes added manually. The model for the bare antenna would require dissolvable supports which is why the antenna assembly file has an additional false conical centre.

The boards are assembled with M3x40 bolts and a mix of 9, 6, or 1mm spacers.

The boards do not have all components or interconnects, just sufficient to allow packaging to be checked.

Category: Engineering
