Cube3 Build Plate Locking Frame

Cube3 Build Plate Locking Frame

I've noticed one thing about my variety of Cube3 printers that's got me stumped - some models come with a really solid magnetic lock on the build plate, while others are only so-so. A while back, I came across an idea for something called a Thingy, which was basically a lattice structure with 8 glue points and fixed magnet locations. The fit was snug, but not too tight, allowing for just enough play to accommodate the magnets without forcing them off their caps. I highly recommend using ShoeGoo for this job - it's easy to clean up if you need to make changes, and it gets the job done. Just apply a small dab of ShoeGoo to each pad, about the size of a shallow dome from the tube, and place the PlateLock frame on the Cube's magnets, just slightly low. Then position the plate as squarely as possible in the Cube3. Now carefully raise the PlateLock to meet the plate while keeping it aligned with the magnets. While the plate is still forward, press down gently on the 3 accessible pads attached to the build plate. Next, move the plate to the other end and do the same for the back 3 pads. Finally, tilt your printer slightly to apply pressure to the two side pads. Double-check everything, then rinse and repeat until you've reached your desired level of perfection.
