Cube3 Back-2-Basics Groove Cutter (B2B Project)
thingiverse
This concludes the final piece to the Back-2-Basics 3D Systems Cube3 cartridge revamping project. This device aims to make creating a groove in your 4mm OD bowden tube easier. To use this device, you will need a cutting edge of some sort. You might be surprised at how many such items you have lying around - a jeweler's screwdriver, an eyeglasses repair kit, or a spare broken bike spoke are all possibilities. Essentially any metal object with a round shape and a width of about 2mm will do. I won't delve into the details further. Simply set a cutting edge in the teardrop slot and secure it with the printed screw. Next, insert a piece of bowden tube between the jaws, then spin the tube using a drill. Finally, clamp down on the jaws to achieve your desired groove. Your goal should be to create a 2mm wide groove that is approximately 0.5mm deep (1/2 mm) in depth. Scroll down this thread and you will find further details about this project: http://www.print3dforum.com/showthread.php/1278-Universal-Hub?p=44594&viewfull=1#post44594 This device has undergone beta testing, but it is still a work in progress. If there is sufficient demand for improvements, I will revisit the design. Be sure to check out the alternative version mentioned at the beginning of the forum thread.
