Cube Storage Labeling - using 2" File Folder Tabs/Inserts
thingiverse
The name-label brackets come in pairs, with one printed part containing labels for two cubes. The brackets are placed on vertical boards between the cubes. If you have an odd number of cubes horizontally, you'll also be printing some single label brackets, choosing either the left or right single based on your artistic preference. You can even mix-and-match different styles. Remember to print one copy of the tiny jig as it will be used to properly align the bracket on each vertical. Other things you'll need include: - Double-sided Mounting Tape, rated at 30lb/13.6kg, which I use from HomeDepot and also find at Amazon.com. - 2" FileFolder tabs and inserts, which I got from Staples. Background ---------- This project came from a simple need. As an engineer working on various projects (EE, Mechanical, S/W, Amateur Radio, etc.), I needed space to store ongoing projects. I chose the "*Better Homes and Gardens 12 Cube Storage Organizer*" with "*Household Essentials Open Fabric Storage Cube Bins*" from Walmart. The whole point of this system is to reduce clutter by not seeing all my stuff. Now that it's in these bins, I need to know which bin contains what stuff, so I decided to use hanging-file folder labels for labeling the cubes. The bins are slightly undersized, leaving room to place the label brackets near the top without interfering with taking-out or putting-back of the bins. If you find this system useful, please let me know! Enjoy! Related Things ---------------- See also my [Alignment Jig for Cube Storage][AlignmentJig]. This is why all my bins are so well aligned in the top picture.
