The Twist-Kit desktop organizer was designed for the AutoDesk Fusion 360 Makerbot Challenge. This marks my first design project for a competition, but I have used Fusion 360 extensively during internships and various classes. STL units are measured in inches. Some renders use free-use pre-fab models to give an idea of how the device could be utilized. Overview: The Twist-Kit is a desk organizer that can be opened and closed by rotating any of its three top cubes to the right. This causes the other two cubes to rotate in unison, revealing 5 different shapes for desk storage. The bottom middle features two swinging doors and a sliding drawer for larger storage. Returning the organizer to its default position conceals the items stored within and minimizes desk clutter. Components: Base.stl The main body of the organizer has two storage spots. The cup on the left is ideal for sticky notes, and the cup on the right is designed for pens. Cube 1.stl Cube 1 is split into two storage areas: a cup on top and a small triangular shelf on the sides. The cup is ideal for a small plant or spare change. Cube 2.stl Cube 2 contains one large shelf, which could be used to hold one's keys or other desk supplies. Cube 3.stl Cube 3 provides clearance for the pen cup on the base. It cannot hold anything itself but is necessary to give pens enough room when the organizer is closed. Rod.stl (2x) These rods stick halfway into the base and halfway into cubes 1 and 3. They are about .23-.25" diameter, and 7.75" long, and should be made of a light metal. Half Rod.stl This rod sticks into the base and into cube 2. It has a .23-.25" diameter, and is 4.125" long. Sliding Drawer.stl This drawer fits into the middle of the base and can slide towards or away from the user. This tray is large enough to hold a stapler, tape dispenser, or most smartphones. A rectangular hole on the back of the base allows for a phone to be charged while stowed. Swing Door.stl (2x) These doors fit into the slots in the base and enable access to the sliding drawer. The hinge is uniquely designed to allow the doors to swing on their corner, without showing the hinge from the closed view. W Bracket.stl The W bracket sticks small pegs into the bottoms of cubes 1, 2, and 3. This piece is necessary to get all three cubes to rotate in unison.
