Cube Gear SolidWorks (with text)
thingiverse
I upgraded Emmett's cube gear to SolidWorks 2014 file format, converting it from its original STL form. Two distinct files cater specifically to the larger gears, each with a unique feature: one allows for uniform text patterning across all three sides of the cube gear, while the other offers customization options on all three sides. I grouped these components together in an assembly and applied mating constraints, ensuring seamless synchronized rotation between them. While the older style pins were included, they weren't integrated into the assembly, a decision made to accommodate the design's varying pin configurations. To clarify, both short and long pin variations are stored as separate configurations within their respective part files. It's worth noting that an existing mating constraint within the assembly prevents the gears from rotating; to overcome this restriction, users will need to suppress or delete it to facilitate turning motion. Users seeking newer, improved versions of Emmett's cube gear incorporating updated pins can access them by navigating to the "v2.0" files section.
