Cube Ball Illusion for easy assembly
thingiverse
I loved the illusion created by Juergen Lochner (Ablapo), but when I prented it, the bolts would not fit the holes, and there was too little guidance by the object to send it to friends as a puzzle without detailed inscructions; so I recreated the design in FreeCAD and attached joints that would make it easy to assemble the cube/ball even with 0.2mm oversized prints (which is pretty common). Printed in transparent PLA it has a beautiful icy shimmer to it that fits perfectly into a christmas tree. Print six identical copies of the part. They fit on a 20x20 print area. No support necessary. When giving it to friends, the only required instructions are "focus on the end points and form something like a cube", this has proven enough to have them successfully assemble it.
