CTC Prusa I3 (Anet A8) X-Axis Upgrade

thingiverse

This is an upgrade designed to enhance the X-Axis of the CTC Prusa I3 3D Printer and similar clones like the Anet A8 by utilizing a 2020 V-slot aluminum profile as the guide, instead of the original steel rods. The aluminum guide paired with a decent extruder carriage featuring three plastic V-type wheels has proven to be significantly better than the original solution: it's lighter in weight, produces fewer vibrations and noise, eliminates alignment issues, and looks more appealing. This solution was successfully tested using a 2020 (20x20mm section), 350mm long aluminum V-Slot profile. In addition, you will need an X-carriage with three or four V-type wheels, a timing belt (2GT, 6mm wide), one pulley (I used a 20T GT2 aluminum pulley), and different length M3 screws and nuts. For the carriage, I opted for an aluminum one purchased online and created a custom adapter for it (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3758617). Any other type or shape of carriage can be used as long as it's designed to roll on the 2020 profile. The parts were designed so that they can still be used with the original steel rods if needed, although this configuration has not been physically tested yet. Using only two screws in opposite positions for fastening the brass nut works better than using four. Unfortunately, there is no thingiverse available for any of the files uploaded, despite their ridiculously small size. However, it's worth noting that some users who spam the site with large files do have thingiverse active. Thanks to the thingiverse staff for not taking action against these users. This may be my last upload on this site due to its poor management.
