CTC I3 y-axis cable chain parts
thingiverse
Most I3 users tend to position their y-axis cable chain outside the printer footprint. I disagree with that approach and instead incorporated it into my printing table's design. The parts work seamlessly with ModelStation's excellent cable chain, available on Thingiverse under ID 11978. I designed them to fit together perfectly but printed each component using a scaling factor of two-thirds. Next, I drilled a 10 mm hole into the wooden table beneath the heating bed where the top piece fits snugly in place. Ensure that it is positioned far enough beneath the table (in the negative y-direction) so the entire chain loop remains concealed underneath. The other end is securely fastened to the base using approximately 14 chain links, which are packed tightly with six cables but still fit comfortably. This design will also work on other printers, but the wooden table of my CTC makes drilling a breeze.
