Miller indices (hkl): (100), (010), (001), (110) Kyanite is a mineral with the chemical formula Al2(SiO4)O. Classified as silicates, specifically nesosilicates, kyanite crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system. Its crystal class, according to the Hermann-Mauguin notation, is -1 pinacoidal. The unit cell of kyanite measures a = 7.11 Å, b = 7.84 Å, c = 5.57 Å. The angles within this unit cell are α = 90.1°, β = 101°, and γ = 106°. Based on drawings in the Atlas der Krystallformen by V.M. Goldschmidt, published between 1913-1923, kyanite is accurately depicted. For more information, visit http://geology.uaic.ro/muzee/mineralogie/.
