A bronze model of an Iguanodon statue stands tall in Crystal Palace Park, London, erected between 1853 and 1855. Sculptor Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins likely created the scale models of these life-size statues. The species that inspired the Iguanodon statues has since been reclassified as Mantellodon, a name meaning 'Mantell's tooth' in honor of Gideon Mantell, the scientist who first described the fossil remains.
