sketchfab

A scale model in bronze showing the life-size ichthyosaur statue erected in Crystal Palace Park, London, in 1853-1855. The models were probably made by sculptor Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins. This model depicts three different species: Ichthyosaurus communis and I. tenuirostris (now Leptonectes tenuirostris) meaning ‘fish lizard’, and the larger Temnodontosaurus platydon, meaning ‘cutting-tooth lizard’.
