Crystal Filament Spindle v1.1a (CorelDraw'd up)
thingiverse
The initial design wasn't compatible with Thing-O-Matic, necessitating the construction of lip-edge holders. To accommodate this, the entire box needs to expand by approximately 6mm in both X and Y directions. The files are provided in EPS/DXF format for use on a CorelDraw X4 file with a 24x18" bed and a 60W Helix laser set at 100% power, 6% speed, and 5000 frequency. Upon assembly, it was discovered that the fingers were only 2mm thick instead of the expected 4mm, resulting in widened bottom disk slots. However, even with 2mm thickness, the fingers proved problematic and had to be redesigned, first using 1/16" plywood and later with loops of 3mm filament. Updates continue. In February 2011, the finger issue persisted, leading to a redesign featuring "U" loops of filament instead. Additionally, the T-slots were found to be too small for 4-40 nuts, and assembly notes were added as a reference.
