Cryptex simplified (locked secret container)
thingiverse
This is a simplified CRYPTEX, a cryptex without any numbers printed on it. This feature gives users complete freedom to create their own unique combination in an original way! Add symbols, letters, drawings, dots... get creative! To spark inspiration, I've drawn one little dot on each roulette. When the dots are arranged in a specific pattern, the lock opens and reveals its content. I must admit that this CRYPTEX isn't perfect. Here's why: Roulettes need to be perfectly straight to open it. To achieve this, sand down the sides of the rectangles carefully. There's also a bit too much space between the roulettes and the body. This can be easily fixed by making some adjustments. The first rectangle needs a little sanding down as well. Unfortunately, the location of the notch on the first roulette is visible from the outside. This shouldn't be the case. To ensure everything works properly, glue the cap securely in place. If the cap isn't glued correctly, the roulettes might have too much space, allowing someone to see the combination from the outside. Warning: when creating symbols, make sure the roulettes are lined up with the subtle mark on the outside of the container. If not, your combination will be incorrect.
