Cryoconite hole Grey glacier (Chilean Patagonia)
sketchfab
Cryoconite granules are dark-colored spherical algal mats found at the bottom of cylindrical water-filled melt holes (cryoconite holes) on glacier surface (http://blogs.egu.eu/divisions/cr/2017/08/11/image-of-the-week-micro-organisms-on-ice/). The granules consist of mineral particles, organic matter, bacteria and cyanobacteria (blue-green algae). This one is a photogrammetry model of a cryoconite hole discovered during an expedition organized by the Association La Venta Esplorazioni Geografiche (www.laventa.it/en/) on April 2016
