The beautiful Cruz relicario de marfil was crafted in the skilled workshops of San Isidoro de León around 1050, marking it as a stunning piece of medieval art from the eleventh century. On December 17th, 1063, King Ferdinand I of León and his queen, Sancha, generously donated this exquisite ivory cross to the monastery of San Isidoro. A small inscription adorns the lower front panel, while a special receptacle is cleverly designed at the rear to safely hold a sacred relic from the True Cross.
