This model is solely dedicated to the details relevant to my holiday cruise from Leon, Nicaragua. Beginning at the city's iconic landmark, the cathedral's journey to its roof is a remarkable feat. To access the roof, one must navigate a spiral staircase located in the rear right corner of the courtyard. Upon reaching the second set of stairs, which are teeming with tourists, visitors will ascend further up to the roof itself. At mid-climb, a slight deviation turns 90 degrees left onto a ledge that ultimately leads to the final ascent. The stairway is notoriously narrow and dimly lit, making for a nerve-wracking experience. Upon reaching the top, the barrel-vaulted roofs slope inward, forming a valley in between. The outer roof serves as a pathway to the corner tower's roof, where a covered area can be found on the third-floor terrace, boasting breathtaking views. Safety measures are minimal throughout; only the tower roof boasts sturdy railings surrounding its dome-topped rooftop. Constructed in the 15th century, the two-story buildings typical of Leon feature courtyards with an inner block-shaped structure and an exposed side featuring a colored band running across the bottom. Window grilles adorning the first floor serve as an added decorative element. In addition to its unique architecture, the area boasts stunning public art pieces like fountains. Grilles adorn the first floor windows of many buildings and they often contain beautiful fountains reminiscent of similar landmarks in Colombia's Cartagena. Leon's signature look, including corner watchtowers with typical stonework patterns are seen all over the place, but a closer inspection reveals more nuances to these details.
