The castle Croy stands proudly in North Brabant's Dutch province, nestled near the charming village of Aarle-Rixtel within Laarbeek municipality. From 1642 to 1968, Croy was part of Stiphout municipality (now a Helmond subdivision), but its rich history remains intact. Although no longer inhabited, the castle serves as a functional office space. Beer brewing commenced near the castle in 1795; however, from 2004 until recently, Belgian breweries handled production using Croy-grown ingredients. The devastating 2006 fire that ravaged the restaurant presented an opportunity to revive beer-making traditions on the estate. Following renovations at nearby "de Croyse Hoeve" restaurant, a microbrewery was established, bringing production back to Aarle-Rixtel. Despite environmental regulations, beer bottling and packaging still occur in Belgium. The Croy estate is also home to a thriving Rambouillet-Merino sheep herd.
