Crossmember Bearing Filament Guide for Direct Drive
thingiverse
This guide was originally designed to fit on the extruder plate and rail guide of a CR10 and E3, extending its length to accommodate a runout sensor. To adapt it for direct drive systems, I repositioned it to sit on the crossmember beam, keeping the filament taut and out of the way. When drawing directly from the spool, the filament naturally spirals, potentially getting caught on edges. This guide keeps the filament high and taut, preventing a spiral from occurring. It also enables high build volumes with reduced drag caused by sharp-angle filament pulling. Proper orientation is crucial; I've slightly twisted this guide to facilitate easy feed from the spool. To assemble, you'll need a 608 bearing and bearing ring. Due to Thingiverse's current search function issues, I've added a remix of the guide from one source, available on their posted page. However, the search for remixed files won't find it. Consequently, I'm linking to the original source of the wheels: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3061551. Note that I didn't use his pins; instead, I employed an M4 bolt and nut.
