Crossbow, Western style, and Arrow
thingiverse
New and improved crossbow now available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2876091. This innovative crossbow utilizes the elastic properties of its 3D-printed limbs to propel bolts with precision. A compact crossbow design perfectly complements a corresponding arrow, crafted using 3D printed components, screws, a spring from pens (diameter less than 5.0 mm), and nylon fishing line. The required screws are clearly visible in the accompanying image. Short 3mm screws secure the bow's tip, while long 3mm screws hold together the spring clip, handle, and body. Two millimeter screws serve as the axis of the trigger. A .skp file for SketchUp is available, detailing all versions and design processes. The trigger, however, appears crude and slightly uncomfortable; improvements would be welcome. A crossbow firing demonstration can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKuxGsIK428. Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator 2 Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 mm Notes: Bow limbs should be printed separately to ensure symmetry, as printing two together will lead to asymmetric infill and a consequent uneven draw when loaded. A resolution of 0.2 mm is sufficient for this design.
