CRONIXIE the Wordclock
thingiverse
Finally available: The CRONIXIE WORDCLOCK shows you the time in text format. It is displayed in English or American, a minute being the smallest unit. Available in two sizes: small and medium. The software is programmed in LED-BASIC. All plans are available for download. LED-BASIC is freeware as well (http://www.led-genial.de/mediafiles//Sonstiges/LedBasic_15.1.7.exe). [BLP] controller by DIAMEX. I am using the CRONIOS-BLP to control it (http://www.led-genial.de/BLP-Cronios-1-max-256-LEDs-Uhr-LDR-Beeper-Drehimpusgeber). Both clocks are being offered as a kit (http://www.led-genial.de/LED-Cronixie). They can be assembled easily and they look breathtaking! Unfortunately my camera can hardly grasp it in its full beauty. In order to change the language you only have to switch the Basic scripts. CRONIXIE can display the time in English or American. Changing that only takes 1 to 2 seconds via USB. One of the most important things while assembling this clock is the correct order of the Plexiglas letters, please stick to the plans here. Of course you can also work with different hardware. Possible choices would be Arduino or Raspberry with the WS2812 protocol. But with the BLPs by DIAMEX it is probably simpler and absolutely affordable. They are fully programmed and work immediately. Of course you can use different BLPs as well. The most important feature of a BLP is the RTC (real time clock), otherwise the WORDCLOCK is not going to work properly. You can use the Pentagon Board, the Budged-Board (please don’t forget to order a 32 kHz quartz along with it) and CRONIOS (http://www.led-genial.de/LED-Basic), for example. The great thing about CRONIXIE is that you can program and change all parameters yourself, e.g. colors, effects (rainbow, wiper), sounds, even inputs and outputs. Using LED-BASIC you can also create a stopwatch, a timer, and an egg timer, among other things. All of this can be created using LED-BASIC – it’s child’s play! https://youtu.be/682fB4ABRp4 https://youtu.be/GBDwrdqiyJ8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXfqHvlpUOQ&t=105s https://youtu.be/hQ57hesBHKo
