Crokinole Disks

Customizing Crokinole Disks for Fun and Competition Trying out various Crokinole disk types is an exciting adventure, and adding shapes, symbols or motifs to the top of these disks can be a great way to personalize them. Why not take it a step further and customize with a few stickers? I'm eager to try beveled edges next, but unfortunately, Tinkercad doesn't have the ability to do bevel edges easily, so I'll need to switch to another program. Two example disks included in this project have parts removed to allow players to drop in one or two US "golden dollar" coins or other coins for changing the weight of the disk. The variation in the depth at which the coin sits should change the center of gravity - a quick lookup reveals that disk weights vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, ranging from ~2.4, 2.5 oz to 2.75 oz; YMMV. House rules dictate that as long as everyone is playing with the same size/type/shaped disk, players can get creative and try new things. We've used (upside down) bottle caps before, and maybe using different shaped/type disks allows for bonus or modifiers alongside regular Crokinole disks. To play, you'll need 6, 12 or 14 disks per person; shared disks are fine for more than 2 players, depending on the rules and variations of game play. For a detailed explanation of the rules, check out the official Crokinole website at http://www.hilinski.net/woodgames/crokinole_rules/rules.html. The International standard disc size has been set at 32mm diameter x 10mm thick ± .5 mm, according to the Crokinole FAQ page at http://www.crokinole.com/faq.asp.
