They use their tails to throw their razorsharp spikes into their the thing they are hunting and bleed it out over time. The spikes grow back as they consume their kill. The Sunbask Empire has somewhat tamed these creatures and use them as monsterous missile infantry, throwing volleys of tailspikes into their enemies. However if a Croggnaw ever becomes hungry enough or gets provoked it will easily turn on its tamer.
