Crochet Hook Storage Box #1
prusaprinters
My wife crochets and knits. She has a lot of needles and hooks. When I first started 3D printing, I wanted things to design and make. So, I designed this about 4 years ago as my first box project. It uses filament for a hinge - which has been sturdy enough after plenty of use. Most people seem to use a soldering iron to slightly melt the filament ends. I prefer to use a butane torch to heat an old putty knife in one small area for 3-5 seconds - I find it easier to control and doesn't burn the filament. In this early design, I had not yet discovered components; so it uses separate files. As a benefit, the latch and clip inserts are easily replaceable. My wife has foam pushed onto her hooks, so that is what drove the size of the "U" shaped clips. If your hooks are different size, it should be easy enough to change the dimension of the clips. The box halves are identical so print 2 of them. To assemble, lightly bow the clips to fit inside the little slots in the main box. The latch just snaps on.
