Crochet Coaster

Crochet Coaster

thingiverse

This is a compact coaster designed for the underside of a crochet African flower granny square that my girlfriend created. We thought it would be cool to combine her crafting and 3D printing ideas, blending our hobbies together. In just one afternoon (excluding the wait for glue), we were able to make a homemade gift. The crochet pattern can be found here: http://flowers-dezdemon.xyz/2016/03/03/crochet-african-flower-pattern-useful-when-making-the-stuffed-elephant-project/ The CAD I made is available here: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/a5e1b31e4b9d064ee8493a27/w/f959f5e94d690996db75c04d/e/ac3c00490ea5d0eee9d9b098 Print Settings: Printer: Flashforge Dreamer Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: High Infill: None Notes: Print vertically with brim. Post-Printing: 1. Brim removal We used a razor blade to shave off the brim and 220 grit sandpaper to smooth out the edges. 2. Crochet design attachment We applied Loctite transparent vinyl, fabric & plastic flexible adhesive using a throw away brush or index card. The glue takes two hours to set. Crocheted African Flower The yarn used was Sugar'n Cream from Michaels, worsted weight 4 with a 4.5mm hook. Each square took approximately thirty minutes to complete.
