Crisan (Revolt statuary group) in Cluj, Romania

myminifactory

This is one of three components to a larger statuary group honoring Horia, Closca and Crisan, constructed by Ion Vasiliu to commemorate the 1784-1785 revolt. Organized in opposition to feudal constraints, the movement fell short of its initial goal. The revolt's conclusion was dramatic for the entire country and surrounding regions. Main demands focused on abolishing the feudal serfdom status of Romanians and achieving political equality between Romanian majority populations of Transylvania and privileged minority groups - Hungarians, Germans, and Szeklers.
