Cricket Waterer

Cricket Waterer

thingiverse

Crickets are pretty silly, actually. They can't survive without water, but if they get too much of it, they'll end up drowning themselves. I've tried using gel and a water dish with a sponge, but nothing seems to work for long at temperatures that crickets love. That is until I created this waterer. The holes in this thing are small enough to keep the water from spilling over due to its surface tension, but if you line the tray part with some kind of absorbent material, it will draw out just the right amount of water for the crickets to drink without drowning. All you need is a folded paper towel - I used several layers and cut them to fit. I'd like to give credit to ippe for coming up with the bottle cap design, since I'm not good enough with CAD programs yet to do it myself. This thing was made using Tinkercad.
