Cricket Dice
thingiverse
Customiser written using OpenSCAD to generate a prism shaped die, which can be customised with text on each face. The customiser will generate the right number of faces for the array of text provided, but only even numbers will make useful dice! The game here is for cricket dice, and the STL models provided are straight out of the generator. The game-play is very simple (providing you know cricket, the explanation of which is beyond the scope of this summary!) - roll the 'runs' die first, and add to the innings total. If "Howzat!" comes up, then this is an event which could cause the batter to be out, so roll the results die to find out, and apply the results from there. It's easy to customise for the parameters of Test, ODI, T20, Hundred or any other form, just by applying the rules (ball/over limit, if any) for that game. It's easy to customise for additional dice with this to make specialised versions for particular players or game types (e.g. a die for a specialist opener, big hitter, tail ender, etc.) I've added my 8-result version as an option, which has 5 ways for the batter to be out, and 3 to stay in, which makes it slightly more generous to the batter. Happy to hear of any comments on your different sets of values for the dice and how they affect the games!
