CRF450 Valve compression tool (2005)
thingiverse
Simple device to assist in removing keepers from valve springs. (Used in conjunction with a C-clamp of proper length.) I fabricated this out of Alloy 910 so it would be incredibly durable, and it performed flawlessly for me. I incorporated a small 3mm deep by 6mm wide hole at the top for a 6mm magnet to be inserted. Of course, this is not essential, but it helps ensure everything stays aligned. The images are of the Gen1 device. I had to turn it down on my lathe at the base because it was too wide and wouldn't fit over the exhaust valves with the spark plug chamber in the way. So the Gen 2 device is slimmer. (Hopefully this won't cause anyone any problems.) Just a side note: I designed this around the dimensions of my intake valve springs. Only to discover later when using it, that the exhaust valve springs are actually slightly larger in diameter. This didn't seem to matter however, (although a tight fit) it still slid over the exhaust valve springs snugly and worked great. **UPDATE** I installed new ProX steel intake valves and springs on my 450x, and the springs that came with it were just like my exhaust springs fitment-wise... They were tight, but still fit snugly into the device and worked for me perfectly.
